Compatible with Traditional Construction Method (Bottom to Top). Apply SINGLE circumferential SAW (Submerged Arc Welding) seams INSIDE or OUTSIDE the tank. It drives hanging on the tank's upper edge.

Compatible with Tank Jacking Construction Method (Top to Bottom). Apply circumferential SAW (Submerged Arc Welding) seams ONLY from the OUTSIDE of the tank. It drives on a temporary rail (see sketch below). For welding circumferential seams from the INSIDE of the tank, use a Girth Welder Model AGW-1-C

WPS & PQR

The user is responsible for certifying the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Record (PQR). It is recommended to consult with a professional welding engineer who can design the welding procedure, taking into consideration the applicable codes and standards. The welding engineer should select the essential welding parameters, such as plate beveling, wire and flux specifications, amperes and voltage, welding speed, etc., to ensure the weld meets the required quality standards.

Rental Facility

Our company does not provide training for Girth Welders. To operate our equipment, a customer-experienced submerged arc welding operator -with an updated ticket- is required. However, we have a Rental Facility in Wetaskiwin that you can use to get familiar with our equipment and obtain the necessary samples to qualify for the Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualifications Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Test (WQT).

To use our Rental Facility, you must provide a steel-base plate with beveling, wire, and flux. The minimum rental period is five business days, with an eight-hour shift. This includes two AGW-1-C or one AGW-2. Available a SAW Welding Tractor. Please note that we allow a maximum of two operators at a time and one customer supervisor. To book the Rental Facility, please make your reservation two to four weeks in advance. Additionally, you will be required to provide a certificate of liability insurance.
