KNOWLEDGE BASE [KB]

Anti-Drift Turning Rolls, also known as Anti-Creep Rotators, Anti-Drift Rotators, Anti-Drift Welding Rolls, and Anti-Drift Rollerbeds, are designed to minimize longitudinal displacement, commonly referred to as the screw effect. At the same time, the vessel rotates a substantial number of turns. It is essential when welding vessels of significant thickness.

Unlike Conventional Welding Rotators or Self-Aligned Turning Rolls, which do not address the screw effect, Anti-Drift Rollers Beds ensure an axis vessel accuracy of ±3.0 mm. This precision is achieved through the use of a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and a Sensor Automatic Anti-Drift Controller.

The screw effect can occur due to several reasons, including:
a) Irregular workpiece (out of roundness)
b) An unbalanced center of gravity
c) Non-cylindrical geometries of the workpiece, such as a cone
d) An uneven shop floor
e) Misalignment of the roller beds, or
f) A combination of these factors.

CONVERSION DEVICE FROM CONVENTIONAL TO ANTI-DRIFT ROLLERBED

Irizar Heavy Industries Inc. is engaged in research, manufacturing, and testing of several advanced technologies related to our field. One notable innovation is a device that will transform any conventional welding rotator, regardless of the supplier, into an Anti-Drift model. This groundbreaking technology is unique worldwide and will be the first of its kind. We will have three models of conversion kits: 1) From 100 to 250 MT, 2) From 400 to 600 MT, and 3) From 800 to 1,200 MT.

Features:

1. Drift Prevention:  The primary feature of anti-drift turning rolls is their design to minimize any unintended movement or drift of the workpiece during rotation. This is particularly important in welding applications where stability is crucial for achieving high-quality welds.
2. Adjustability:  These turning rolls often feature an adjustable design, allowing operators to customize the setup based on the diameter of the workpiece. The ability to adjust the distance between rollers contributes to the anti-drift capability.
3. Alignment Mechanism: Anti-Drift Turning Rolls incorporate alignment mechanisms to ensure proper centring and alignment of the workpiece. This helps maintain stability and prevents the workpiece from moving backward or forward from its intended position; it is also known as the longitudinal screw effect, which exists to some degree in all welding rotators.
4. Drive System:  Like standard turning rolls, anti-drift turning rolls are equipped with a motorized drive system that powers the rotation of the rollers. The drive system ensures controlled and consistent rotation of the workpiece.
5. Compatibility:  Anti-Drift Turning Rolls are compatible with various welding processes, including SAW (Submerged Arc Welding), gas metal arc welding (GMAW/MIG), and others. They find application in industries such as fabrication, shipbuilding, and construction.
6. High-Quality Welds:  The anti-drift feature contributes to the stability of the workpiece during welding, allowing for precise control and positioning. This, in turn, contributes to the production of high-quality welds.
7. Anti-Drift Turning Rolls are particularly useful when working with long and cylindrical workpieces. The prevention of drift ensures that the welding process is carried out with precision, resulting in consistent and reliable outcomes.
